Originally a JRRDS car – used primarily by Malcolm Payne in the 1964, 65 seasons. Goodwood history 1964 & ‘65 (Payne) and ’66 (Mike Potter). Converted to Formula Ford in 1968. Crashed 1971 and used for parts. Purchased by Dick Tennant 1971 and stored along with second car from which he hoped to make one good one from two! Unfortunately this project never saw the light of day, and on Dick’s passing, the current owner acquired both cars from his estate in 2015.
Full restoration by Jon Waggitt 2016-2018 and fastidious no-expense-spared maintenance since. Most parts from Peter Denty, who also rebuilt the chassis in the Lotus 22/31 jig. HSCC VIF No. 700279A exp. 24/3/2029. Goodwood invitations for the Members Meeting, and has appeared there three times. Also eligible for Formula Junior Class G1 – and this car has actually raced with FJHRA at Silverstone Classic. Winner of the Warwick Banks Trophy for Historic Formula 3 – (Class A) for 2 seasons. Fully refreshed side-draught engine 2024 (only 1 hr+dyno) by Jeremy Bennett (Nemesis Racing). Gearbox by Jono at Racing transmissions. New compliant plumbed-in fire system – re-certified in May 2024.Recent ‘Luke’ harnesses with 5-point T-bar system.(Easy-fasten without assistance). Harness positioning/spacing and mounting all ‘Hans’ friendly to future-proof the car. Tyres – nearly new, only two meetings – noting Class A tyres are considerably cheaper and last 3 times as long as class B.
For those unsure of driver fit in a Lotus – owner 5’-11” and 17st and comfortable getting in and out and driving it.
