17/01/2018

The Friday evening of the Race Retro show saw the Historic Formula 3 community gather to celebrate the award winners and champions from the 2017 season during its’ Annual Dinner and Awards Presentation at the stunning Wroxall Abbey Mansion.

Members, supporters and their guests were on hand to applaud the winners from the racing season. We also enjoyed the support of period F3 drivers and mechanics including Alan Rollinson, Dave Berry, Natalie Goodwin, Mike Walker and special guest, photographer extraordinaire Charlie Wooding.

Special awards on the night included the Association Trophy for the spirit of Historic F3, presented to Paul Waine for his generous gesture of loaning his DeSanctis to Championship leader, Jon Milicevic, who had suffered engine problems in the first race at the Zandvoort meeting. The award for the hardest trier, the Keith Messer Salver, went to Mark Linstone; luck never seems to be on his side but he tries is hardest to get the Brabham out in the next session or race.

The Charles Lucas goblet for the most race wins in the season with seven wins and the Peter Gaydon Salver for winning the HSCC Historic F3 Championship both went to Jon Milicevic.

The Harry Stiller Salver for the best newcomer went to Brabham BT21 racer Gregan Thruston.

The Alan Rollinson Salver is awarded for the best individual drive of the year. This year we had two very strong contenders for this and for the same race. A race in which they were racing each other and with great spectacle. After much discussion there was no option but to award this jointly to Jon Milicevic & Andrew Hibberd for their fantastic exhibition of great close safe racing, at the Silverstone finals meeting.

The Mike Walker Award for the best performance by a UK driver in all HF3 races went to Jim Blockley

The Jurg Dubler Award for the best performance by a European driver in all HF3 races went to Francois Derossi with tenth place in the HSCC Championship and winning the European Trophy.

The Dave Berry award for best self-prepared car went to Steve Smith.

Gasket Award for the mechanic of the year went to Johnathan Sewell.

Many thanks go to Membership secretary Michael Hedger for organising the fabulous evening.
